Ayen Quias

AYEN QUIAS, a painter and collage artist, was born in Santiago City, Isabela, and is currently based in Pura, Tarlac. Her educational background includes studying Architecture at the University of Cordilleras in Baguio City. Many of her paintings carry Ilocano titles, paying homage to her Ilokano heritage. Her art often features a lady with distinct cheek features, which she refers to as "cheeks on fleek." These paintings depict figurative abstract representations of women with unique characteristics such as protruding shoulders, elongated hands and necks, hourglass-shaped bodies, adorned in various patterns, and with coveted cheeks. Notably, her artwork "Sophistikada" was sold in an auction and has become part of the prestigious collection at the New York Modern Art Gallery.

Aside from her artistic pursuits, Ayen Quias is the proprietor of Ayenics Arts and Crafts, a company specializing in crafting faux barrels and customized wood creations for weddings and other events. Unfortunately, the business, along with the entire event industry, suffered significant setbacks during the Covid-19 pandemic due to restrictions on social gatherings. Despite the challenges, Ayen Quias is an optimistic individual who views every mistake as an opportunity and possibility. In response to the pandemic's impact, she created "Ayen's Little Town," a captivating wood collage featuring colorful dense houses against candy-colored skies. This remarkable piece, made from wood scraps, serves as a poignant reminder of the lives lost during the pandemic, the ongoing struggles, and the enduring hope for a better tomorrow.

Ayen Quias actively participates in art exhibits both locally and internationally, showcasing her talent in renowned galleries and museums worldwide. Her portfolio includes exhibitions in 2013 Art Expo Malaysia, Italy, USA, Mexico, and the most recent one in Singapore, where she unfortunately lost six of her paintings.
