Clarence U. is a self-taught Filipino visual artist who began her artistic journey in 2019. Before becoming an artist, she worked as an embalmer, where she developed a deep appreciation for restoration, precision, and the delicate process of preserving and reconstructing form. The restorative nature of her previous work unexpectedly became the foundation of her artistic practice.

As an introvert, Clarence has always found comfort in working quietly and independently. Art became a natural extension of her personality—a space where she could reflect, create, and express emotions in her own way. The patience and sensitivity she learned through restoration found a new purpose through painting and sculpture, transforming what began as curiosity into a lifelong passion.

Now in her sixth year as an artist, Clarence works across various mediums, including oil painting, textured artworks and sculpture. Her works often explore themes of introspection, calmness, memory, and emotional depth, using texture and layered compositions to create a sense of connection and contemplation.

As an artist, Clarence is intuitive, meticulous and deeply reflective. She believes that art, much like restoration, has the power to preserve emotions, heal unseen wounds, and give new life to stories that might otherwise remain unspoken.
