Product Description

Nantz Matienzo is a Filipino mixed-media wood sculptor and contemporary visual artist. A draftsman by profession,
He also works as a muralist and stage designer. Born and raised in Antipolo, Rizal, Philippines, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology,
major in Drafting, from Marikina Polytechnic College (formerly MIST/MSAT) in 2017.

Matienzo is known for his assemblage and multi-layered handcrafted wood sculptures made from reclaimed wood, slab wood, and wood boards.
Using acrylic, spray, and automotive paints, he transforms layered woodcuts into sculptural and functional artworks, including clocks,
sound pieces, and light-integrated installations.

His practice explores pop art, pop culture, anime, iconic cartoon characters, notable personalities, and occasional realism through geometric forms and
vector-inspired compositions.
He is the creator of BUKNOY, his signature pop lowbrow character—a fusion of his lucky dog and himself that represents his identity.
His body of work also includes mother-and-child series and contemporary homages to master artists.

Matienzo has exhibited in major Philippine art fairs, including Art Fair Philippines, and has participated in international group exhibitions in Taiwan,
Thailand, South Korea, and Japan. His works are also held in private collections in the United States.
