Collection: Nathaniel San Pedro

Nathaniel started to venture in painting during his elementary years. At the age of seven (7) he already competed in several on the spot painting contests and he was consistently at the top three lists of winners. Those experiences opened his interest and his eyes to pursue painting, which became my passion. Way back in high school, I was part of the Young Artist Club of Saint Joseph’s College in Quezon City. Every Friday, I immersed myself in painting sessions that honed my creativity and skill in painting. However, my parents insisted me to take a course that is related to medicine or science. Being an obedient son, I took up Bachelor of Science in Psychology to appease his parents and graduated from Our Lady of Fatima University.

His interest in painting was temporarily shelved during my college years and focused myself in study. I returned and rekindled my passion to paint again when I started working in a corporate world as a Recruitment Specialist. I realized that drawing and painting is innate in me and look at it as his never ending passion.

Slowly, I perceived his desire to go back to my first love, which is “painting”. For two (2) years, I got serious in art and studied general knowledge in painting. I came to know the basics of painting, process of paint application, mixing of tonal values of paints, combination of colors and right proportion of drawings. I studied associate degree in Fine Arts at Global Knowledge, Boni - Mandaluyong City. I tried to study and enhance his painting skill while working in a corporate world. After studying the basics in oil painting, I must say that the rest was self taught by watching painting videos of oil painting in YouTube, reading books about drawing and painting and even having small talks with different artists will help you hone and explore your skill in painting.

His first love is painting. Drawing is intuitive. When I paint, I can express his emotions and I am put in a different dimension; I find satisfaction, tranquility and happiness when I am painting. Painting is an expression of his creativity.
