Collection: Emmanuel Nim
Emmanuel Nim, originally from Polomolok, South Cotabato, Philippines, is a self-taught contemporary visual artist who nurtured his passion for art from a young age, particularly in the realms of figures and landscapes. His artistic journey has been deeply influenced by the works of renowned masters such as Juan Luna, Amorsolo, Caravaggio, Waterhouse, Dali, Sargent, Michaelangelo, and Da Vinci. In 1998, following his high school graduation, he relocated to Manila and has since devoted himself to a full-time career as an artist.
Nim is a highly productive artist, with a special focus on portraiture that reflects his profound fascination with the human form and its emotional nuances, as well as his profound concern for the environment and Mother Nature. His portfolio encompasses portraits, human figurative paintings, and landscapes, all conveying the message that humans bear the responsibility of stewardship for the Earth, emphasizing the interconnectedness of humanity and nature.
Notably, Nim's figurative art showcases his enduring fascination with the human body, capturing it in tranquil and transcendent portraits, as well as in idiosyncratic and surprising life studies. Each painting in his collection boasts a distinctive style, inviting viewers to explore the intricacies of the human form. Nim's artistic goal is to create realistic illusions that extend the boundaries of social reality, achieved through meticulous attention to structure, shape, volume, perspective, color, tone, light, and shade. His art spans various mediums, including oils, acrylics, watercolors, ink, and charcoal.
Over the past decade, ENim has actively participated in numerous group art exhibitions across the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, the USA, Germany, and Italy. His artistic prowess has garnered recognition through various awards, including first place in the AAP's First Figurative On-The-Spot Painting Competition, an honorable mention in the 2016 GSIS on-the-spot painting contest, and finalist positions in the GSIS 2017 National Art Competition and the 2020 High Art Competition in the USA. He is a valued member of esteemed organizations such as the Art Association of the Philippines (AAP), KUNST Pilipino, Erehwon Art Collective, and serves as a core member of the Knights of Rizal, Juan Luna Chapter.
Nim's contributions to the art world extend beyond his canvas, as he was selected in 2011 to paint the "Philippine Air Force Mural" and in 2015 to contribute to the "Fallen SAF 44 Mural." In 2013, his work was featured in the book "Revisiting Mabini Art," and in November 2017, another book titled "Palettes of Colors" showcased him and his creations. In October 2017, he was commissioned by the DAP Tagaytay to create a mural depicting nine national artists featured in their art museum.
