Collection: Edward De Castro
Edward De Castro is a young contemporary visual artist hailed from Padre Garcia, Batangas. He has discovered his talent in drawing early on during his high school days and he was recognized as Artist of the Year for his exceptional performance in art contests and school activities. He got his idea from cubism ad cultivated by his sharp mind. The early seed of potential even flourished with his quest to further develop his creativity and personal style. His art’s theme is all about expressing emotions of an ordinary person, and to help them to be seen in this world full of blind people that can’t see their values, he also want to modernize the old master piece of respective artist that inspired him to do what he is doing right now.
His discipline and astounding passion led him to opportunities while his mentorship from Mr. Joseph Albao, a prolific visual artist, even encouraged him to pursue arts as a full-time career. Today, Edward has found his niche in a very exciting use of bright colors to create his own style of figurism. Often characterized by distorted proportion of human figure stitched to a backdrop of almost tapestry-like imagery of shapes and strokes. With his art, he wants to show the romance to evoke the emotion of love, passion and kindness in an almost immaculate portrayal of his subjects.
His works has graced a number of group exhibitions and were among the possessions of many art collectors and enthusiasts in the countries and some parts of the globe like Canada. What he does are all product of his endearing love for his craft and he has a devotion of continually evolving in his themes and subjects as he look deeper into his personal experiences as inspiration.
His style of artwork is not usual because he has it's own trademark, he joined some of a local exhibit to introduce his name together with his artwork and want to be part of a history and it's all about work of art. He believes that "unconditional love is the best form of art," and with this, his art is a true testament of his personality. He is a member of Chroma Artists Group and Daloy Likha Arts and Nature Society and currently serving as External Project Coordinator of Vice Versa Artist Group.
