Collection: Bong Ducat

Benedicto "Bong" Ducat, born in 1957 in Tondo, Manila, graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Santo Tomas in 1980 and obtained his master's in arts from the University of the Philippines.

During his youth, he observed movie billboard painters. He developed a strong interest in art, regularly visiting galleries and studios in the Mabini area, where he studied the techniques of Felix Gonzales. He also became part of the Faculty of TUP until 1981.

Afterward, he served as a consultant at Clayburn Ceramics before joining Lahi Crafts as a Supervisor until 1990. Subsequently, he was invited by Ibarra de la Rosa to teach at PWU, where he remained until 1992, the same year he held his first solo exhibit at Heritage Art Center, SM Megamall. Currently, he is a faculty member at the University of Santo Tomas.

Throughout his career, he has received various accolades, including winning the 1st prize in the Melchora Aquino drawing contest in 1967 and at the Agro-Industrial Fair Art Competition. In addition, he achieved the 2nd Prize in the YMCA Hi-Y Poster making contest and earned two 1st Prizes at J P Laurel High School Contests, one in Painting and the other in Drawing.
