Melchor Tagana offers a more ethereal vision. The fluid motion of water intertwines with cosmic dust and nebula-like patterns, evoking a sense of infinity and depth. His work swirls of dark colors and light-hue waves blend seamlessly with celestial ivory white and starry specks, creating a mesmerizing fusion of sea and space.
Visualeyte invited three thought-provoking artists from the region.
First with Raul Agner, his art is radiating masculinity merging bold, intense strokes with complex banig-inspired weaving patterns, symbolizing resilience, structure, and cultural heritage. The rigid geometry of the weave contrasts with dynamic, expressive elements, creating a tension between tradition and modernity.
Rico Palacio equally radiates in the surrealism artistry, intertwining time and life through dreamlike imagery and symbolism in a seamless structural narrative of collage and textured allegory which embodies growth and decline, creating a visual meditation on life’s impermanence and the beauty within its passage.
And lastly, Edmun Balan shares his works with subtle Van Gogh-like strokes that capture the serene rhythm of provincial life, either with fishermen casting nets into shimmering waters or the swirling brushstrokes breathing movement into golden rice fields swaying in the breeze. The vibrant play of light and texture transforms everyday scenes into a poetic tribute to nature, hard work and the timeless beauty of rural life. His works provokingly embody the quiet dignity of simple living.
Visualeyte offers a captivating glimpse into the diverse and profound talents of Leyte’s artists, each expressing a distinct perspective and voice through their canvas. More than an art exhibition, it is an invitation to step into a world where muses come to life, nature’s beauty is honored, and the interplay of silence and movement in abstractionism unfolds. With this showcase, Kolor Banwa presents a compelling challenge to viewers, striking a delicate balance between perception and visual expression.
