Eberle Catampongan

Eberle Catampongan

Eberle Catampongan is the artist behind Pan de
Manila's Christmas 2018 artwork. Entitled "Pasko sa Nayon," the oil-on-canvas de-picts the traditional Christmas in the rural setting.

The landscape is teemed with "parol" or traditional Christmas lanterns and people going to the church for the midnight masses. "It reminds us of the togetherness and love shared among family (members) and the genuine camaraderie in the community as they all look forward to Christmas," the artist said about this
work.

Catampongan, 38, hails from Antipolo, and is a member of the Art Circle Gallery. He apprenticed with respected artist Tony Mahilum, his father inlaw, to learn art. Catampongan studied architecture at the Technological Institute of the Philippines. His background in architecture is reflected in the intricate details seen in structures, which he uses as backdrop in Filipino rustic villages that he is well known for. He called his style "Filipiniana."
