Product Description
Born in Manila, raised in Pampanga, mother of three and an entrepreneur, Mylen started painting when she was just 8 years old, after her parents' separation. She recalls that her mother's last instruction to her before leaving to seek work abroad was to continue drawing. Rapidly flicking through her yellow pad, young Mylene sketched scnes of family and home akin perhaps to Wanda Maximoff's vision in that Marvel serues. One of her works eventually caught the eye of a teacher to entered Mylene's art in a contest. It won the contest.

With her characteristic persistence and eye for evolving artistic style, she has proven time and again that she can come up with innovative forms using cognizant visual elements. Her newly-minted artistic creations sprung from a conglomerate of past experience in artmaking techniques and exploration of patterns interwaved with personal history. As the month of May is ddedicated to honoring mothers around the globe. Quito, a mother herself is paying homage to the woman who made sacrifices away from her family to provide for her and her sibling: her Mom. She worked abroad as a part-time seamstress and regularly self-desgined clothes for her children. The colorful prints on the clothing textiles became their link across two worlds, a language of love encapsulated in pieces of clothing.

Les Belle Fleurs is evidence of Quito's mastery of patterns and the dance betweek sharp lines and billows. Her layering, which we also observe in the propagation of plants, signifies that growth is life. Quito's transformation from realism to abstractionism underscores the evolution that was due. Quito is not one to sit still when the wanderlust calls. Even from afar, she will hear the blooming of flowers. Calla Lilies, roses, tulips, poppies, and sunflowers are representations of the sacredness of the tansmutation of personal tribulations that are unheard of by most. The colors yield to glorious epiphanies rather than succumb to sorrow. Certain times call for such to happen.
