Unfiltered Emotions

There are emotions that refuse to be named—only felt, carried, and released in fragments. Unfiltered Emotions gathers the works of Nubbin Beldia, John Clark Castillo, Cobbie Cruz, and Jay Dy, each navigating abstraction as a way of making sense of what moves beneath the surface.
The paintings breathe through shifts in mood and atmosphere. Color, gesture, and texture become extensions of inner states—sometimes restrained, sometimes overwhelming, often existing somewhere in between. These are not images that ask to be decoded. They unfold slowly, like a memory returning or a feeling that lingers longer than expected.

Beldia’s surfaces hold a certain urgency, where tension builds and breaks within the material itself. Castillo creates spaces that feel suspended in time—quiet, expansive, and subtly charged. Cruz leans into movement, allowing color to collide and dissolve, capturing fleeting emotional states. Dy constructs layered compositions that suggest both control and disruption, revealing the constant negotiation between intention and impulse.

What ties these works together is not a single narrative, but a shared sensitivity to surroundings—how environments, both internal and external, shape the way emotions surface. The exhibition resists clarity in favor of presence. It invites a slower kind of looking, where meaning is not fixed but felt in passing, shifting with each viewer.

Unfiltered Emotions opens on April 12 at Nami Art Gallery, Greenhills Mall.

Capturing Emotion Through Texture and Form

Jay Dy is an artist who speaks through texture, contrast, and movement. Self-taught creative, he moves beyond traditional boundaries, blending abstract landscapes with elegant figurative forms to create works that evoke curiosity and emotion.
