Hemilyn Tamayo

I'm Hemilyn Tamayo, a Filipino artist based in Manila, and my work is a reflection of the deep connection I feel with nature. My portfolio spans various genres, from portraits to abstracts and landscapes, often using the impasto technique. Each piece is vibrant and textured, conveying a sense of peace, tranquility, and emotional connection to the world around me. Through bold brushstrokes and layers of color, I aim to create art that not only depicts beauty but also evokes emotions and offers a moment of introspection.

I've been fortunate to be mentored by talented artists like Crisel Malait and Rene Cuvos, who have helped shape my artistic journey. My studies at the Yale University School of Art have also been instrumental in refining my skills and allowing me to explore different styles and techniques. Art has always been a form of self-expression for me, but it also serves as a space where I can convey my personal experiences and growth.

Beyond my work as an artist, I've had the honor of representing the Philippines at the 2005 Miss Globe Pageant, and in 2021, I was named Mrs. Tourism Universe. I also served as President of Mutya Ng Pilipinas during its 49th and 50th year and led the Rotary Club of Southern Mandaluyong. These experiences have enriched my life and helped me connect with others in meaningful ways.

Socio-civic work holds a special place in my heart, and I'm proud to be involved in various charities. I have a postgraduate degree in developmental psychology and am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Psychology. Alongside my artistic endeavors, I'm also an entrepreneur, managing several businesses, and I'm an active member of the United Women Artists Association of the Philippines and the New York Artists Equity Association, Inc.

Through my art and advocacy, I've learned that creativity has a powerful healing potential. It's a constant reminder of the beauty and strength that can emerge from both the challenges and joys of life. As I continue my journey, I look forward to exploring new artistic horizons and sharing my experiences with others, both through my work and my efforts to give back to the community.
